What is the Red Hat Academy Talent Network?

The Red Hat Academy Talent Network connects students with employers from around the world. Students can find job opportunities, chat with employers seeking open source talent and prepare to join the tech workforce, all from within a single portal. Employers can find and connect with candidates who have Red Hat skills and certifications to close the technology skills gap that is vitally important to the future of enterprise software.

Who can join and access the Red Hat Academy Talent Network?

Access to the Talent Network is available to any Red Hat Academy student who is at least 18 years old and has taken or is currently enrolled as a student in a Red Hat Training course through a Red Hat Academy partner. Academic partners include higher education institutions that are degree granting and non-profit institutions, who have a partnership agreement in place with Red Hat Academy.

Access to the Talent Network is also available to any Red Hat Partner or Customer, who are seeking enterprise-ready, entry-level talent to fulfill job roles within their organization.

Account Support

How do I login as a student?

Go to here and click “Continue as Student”. You will be prompted to login to your Red Hat account and once logged in, you can create and save your profile. Be sure to login with the same username/account used for Red Hat Academy Learning Platform.

If you are unable to login as a student, contact your Academy instructor to ensure you are enrolled in a Red Hat course at your academic institution.

For issues with your account password, on the login screen follow the “Forgot your password?” instructions.

How do I log out of the RHA Talent Network?

On the top right hand side of the screen click your username. On the the pop-up displaying your account summary click “Log out”

How do I search for employers?

Go to here and click “Continue as Student.” Once logged in you will land on the Home tab of the application where you can filter employers by location, employment type and roles offered as well as skills & qualifications required by the various employers.

Am I able to sort employer profiles on my home page?

The profiles are sorted alphabetically by default.

How do I customize what I see on my home page?

Select the options related to your desired employment type, roles offered, skills and qualification, and location. Always select “Apply filters” to access a customized view.

How do I access and edit my basic information on my Red Hat account?

Follow this link to make updates to your basic information (first name, last name, email and location): Manage Red Hat Account

How do I update my location?

Go to Manage Red Hat Account to make edits to your basic information. Under “Your Information,” click “Postal Address” and update your address accordingly. Your City, State and Country/Region will automatically update on the Red Hat Academy Talent Network.

How do I access and edit my profile?

The following instructions will help set up your profile:

  • Your basic information will be automatically pulled from your Red Hat account. Access the link if updates are needed.
  • Add a short description and bio in the About section to let employers know a little bit about yourself
  • Your education details will be automatically pulled from your Red Hat Academy Learning Platform account, where you consume courses through your academic institution. This information includes Red Hat Academy attended, Red Hat Certification ID, Courses Taken. You can edit the Date of Graduation.
  • Under the Availability and interest section, complete the date of availability, employment types, relocation status and roles you’re interested in.
  • Check all boxes that apply in regards to your skill-set in programming languages and other technical skills
  • As an option, you can upload your resume and cover letter to reflect on your profile for employers to view directly

How do I connect my Red Hat Learning Community profile?

We do not have a current integration with the Red Hat Learning Community, but we suggest engaging in discussions in the Red Hat Academy group.

What does an Active profile mean?

If active, your profile is visible to employers and you are available to be messaged by employers interested in your skillset.

What does an Inactive profile mean?

By setting your profile as inactive, your profile will no longer be visible to employers and you will not be able to receive messages from employers.

Message Center

How do I message other users on the Red Hat Academy Talent Network?

Only employers can initiate messages to students within the Red Hat Academy Talent Network. If you would like to connect with other students and learn more about advancing your career, visit the Red Hat Learning Community.

I cannot use the Message Center to speak with an Employer about a specific role.

Students are unable to message employers, unless an employer begins the discussion through the message center. If your “Send” button is grayed out, ensure that your profile status is set to Active under the “Settings” tab of the application.

How can I receive an email notification if an employer messages me?

Under the “My Settings” tab, you can view your notification preference under “Message Notifications.” If enabled, you will receive an email notification anytime an employer messages you within the Red Hat Academy Talent Network. If set as disabled, then you will not receive a notification email if an employer reaches out in your messages.

Creating your Profile

How can I find my Red Hat Certification ID?

If you have passed a Red Hat Certification exam, you can view your Certification ID within your Red Hat account.

What if I have a Red Hat Certification, but it does not show up on my profile?

Ensure that you are logged into the correct Red Hat Account that you used to enroll and take your Red Hat Certification exam. The Red Hat ID must match both your login for the Red Hat Academy Learning Platform and your Red Hat Certification.

If you have multiple Red Hat accounts and wish to consolidate to one account, please submit a support ticket within the Customer Service Portal, under “Account Management.”

Why can’t I update my education & background when creating my profile?

Students cannot update Red Hat Academy institution name, Red Hat courses taken or certification ID, as this information is pulled directly from the Red Hat Academy Learning Platform account information. If information is absent from this section, reach out to tecsupport-rha@redhat.com to verify that your information is up to date.

Who can see my profile?

Employers who are registered on the Red Hat Academy Talent Network can view your profile.

Privacy

How long will Red Hat retain my data?

Red Hat will generally retain your personal data as long as you keep your Red Hat Academy Talent Network profile active or as needed to provide you with access to opportunities or communication available from recruiter members of the Red Hat Academy Talent Network. Even if you only use the Red Hat Academy Talent Network when looking for a new job every few years, we will retain your information and keep your profile active, unless you delete your account under “My Settings''. In some cases we may choose to retain certain information (e.g., insights about the use of the Red Hat Academy Talent Platform) in a depersonalized or aggregated form. For more information on Red Hat’s privacy practices, please see Red Hat's Privacy Statement.

How do I hide my profile?

In the settings page, you can choose your profile visibility options. An active profile will appear in the search results for criteria matching your profile options. For a student, an active profile will give employers the option to contact you. An inactive profile will be hidden from search results, and will no longer be viewable.

How do I deactivate or delete my account?

You are in control of the information you post on the Red Hat Academy Talent Network. You choose to deactivate your account, by selecting "Inactive" for profile visibility under Profile Settings or delete your account based on the steps provided below at any time:

Deactivating your account

Deactivating your account will remove your profile from the Red Hat Academy Talent Platform, but will not delete any of your messages exchanged with a employer member in the Message Center. Should you choose to return to the Red Hat Academy Talent Platform in the future, you will be able to sign back in the reactivate your account by selecting "Active" for profile visibility under Profile Settings.

Deleting your account

Deleting your account is permanent and cannot be undone. You will not be able to retrieve any of the messages exchange in the message center or any of the information you have shared in your profile. If you would like to permanently delete your account, please submit a request

How do I search for candidates?

Open the Home tab and begin searching for candidates with the Red Hat Academy talent pipeline. The filters available on the left hand side of the page allow results to be refined by location, skills or availability.

Am I able to sort profiles on my home page?

The profiles are sorted by default A to Z.

As an employer, why can't I send messages to a candidate?

If a student sets their profile to “Inactive” status under the settings, other employer users cannot send messages anymore.
